you don't need no measly 512MB...
Reward yourself with a nice 1GB MMC and look down on those with 32 MB
(like i do)

interestingly enough all dealers/partners have full access to all the official communications which very clearly stated that it was shipping with a 512MB card.

And no, there are no plans to give old(?!?!) users of the 6255 an upgraded card.

The new boxes are shipping still with the original 32MB card PLUS the 512MB.

All the old model that i saw were blue too, but the new one is black (talking bout the phone now, not the MMC card)

maybe i am confused with the dummy phones? I think they might be blue, and all the phones are black.

Yes the dummy phones were blue.

I do think it would be a good gesture by telecom to upgrade the MMC cards due to the suffering of those who had to deal with a problematic phone.

Taniwha, how much for a 1Gb card? I do not want to pay the hundreds of dollars that it seems everybody wants me to...

Have a look at www.flashcards.co.nz for some pretty good prices on memory cards.

I can get 1GB SD's wholesale for about $105 + GST, flashcards are selling several brands of 1GB's for about $130 incl which is pretty reasonable.

I had a look around the web a few weeks ago after I got my 6255 and found flashcards.co.nz seemed to be the cheapest. I ordered late one Wed night and it arrived by courier first thing friday a.m. Pretty good service I thought. I have a 1GB Kingston MMC+ and it works great.

flashcards.co.nz, and ascent.co.nz have roughly the same prices - but flashcards are always quicker to supply the goods.

Not on a Nokia phone, but I recommend flashcards.co.nz... I bought a 512MB mini SD card for my Smartphone and got delivered next day - and cheaper than any other place.

yep falshcards as well

I got a 1 gig MMCplus for $153-00 but prices may have moved since then. I think the std speed MMC was $130-00 and i concur the service was excellent with even follow up emails to make sure I was happy. Nice touch!

Just a wee point though! if you are going to load up your phone as an mp3 (or AAC in this case) player unless they have expanded the song list or changed the way the music player works, as per our problems list a gig card is not necessary. As you can only go in via the Gallery and only play songs individually on any thing not on the 200 song list in the phone!

If I had known all this and the phone had shipped with the 512 card I probably would have stuck with it. So am feeling a little ripped off by the whole situation. Very bad marketing but have to wait and see what the Telecom patch has achieved B4 I go off the deep end.

I was wondering if they shipped a 512 card with the new phones because they couldn't or wouldn't make the song list any longer with the music player as a 512 would be approx 200 songs.

Brad
I would also be very interested in what they have done as mine is not powering off and if they have only fixed this I may not have to bother sending my phone away. I called the Telecom shop last week and they new nothing about anything.

I just don't get this silence and secrecy thing Telecom seem to be going with. If we get a software patch for say: my CAD program or a bios upgrade for a motherboard we get a list of the fixes. I just cant see the point in not being up front and saying "bring your phone in, here's whats changed, aren't we a nice helpful company" Much better PR in my view! My only guess is they have only sorted the powering off and don't want to face the music on the other issues, I'm hoping I'm very wrong because this phone could so easily be much better!

Regards
