i live in rural otago and the xt reception is pretty sketchy, so i picked up an old sierra wireless card to try it out.
i called telecom and was advised thay do not do new connections on the old network.
is this true?
is anyone else going to pick up the old network and run with it ?

Your Title should read Telecom mobile Broadband not 027

027 numbers can be on Vodafone , 2D

Why not use a device on XT that can take an external antenna. Antennas can take "pretty sketchy" signal and turn it into 2 or 3 bars of eminently usable cell coverage. (In some cases).

"Pick up the old network and run with it ?" - Telecom is not simply going to walk away from an entire mobile network, radiofrequency spectrum, resource consents, leases, towers and equipment. Much is integral to the new network, and why would Telecom sell a running network in place and ready to go?
