its not jsut the big time plans

Norpsely: After a lenghty chat with a T2 support person at xtra they told me what the problem is .

The issue :

There is a Fault in one of the Cards in A router at Global gateway

What is being done :

Global Gateway replaced the card which they thought had a memory leak last wednesday and had beleived this had resolved the problem

However the fault re occured 3 day later on  Sunday the 21st

Currently GlobalGateway are investigating the cause of this fault there also is no ETA but are hopefull to have the fault resolved as soon as possible

Furthere actions to get this resolved :

The Best thing for anyone with this fault (High MS/Ping  )  and slow interenational traffic, to do is

Log a fault with Xtra (i know its a pain )  get the refrence Number and provide tracert's this will help the more people who advise there is a problem the higher priority that this will get)

for big time user there is some traffic shaping going on this is a result of the plan and xtra blame a lot of the issues big time users have on this plan

best test u can do is test localy and then test ping and speed internationaly (shaping is  applied to whole account not jsut international traffic)

Could log it with Telecom, or could just chuck it at stories@stuff.co.nz :P

Sure they wouldn't love an opportunity to continue their crusade against Telecom

Do you think this Big Time plan has devastated Telecom's infrastructure which is now why everything is breaking?

It defintely wasn't working to spec on the three days up to the 21st, as I laid complaints on a couple of those days. So I think whatever Global Gateway did didn't help. I did notice, now and then, that tracerts to a server in the states I usually get good connection speeds with were failing at the global gateway.

At least it ain't Telecoms fault. Stupid global gateway.

This is getting a bit rediculious.

Im getting time outs on a lot of international sites.

Im unable to access internet banking.

Paypal takes a age (longer then dialup) to load.

Ive been using my t-stick to browse because its 10x faster.
