just a quick question, recently my netgear modem died after a firmware upgrade, i managed to get hold of a thompson wireless modem ( the ones they telecom give away ).  Since installing this i have been having issues with my phone line, the uniden wireless phone ( 5.8 ghz ) is now getting a very crapy reception, im hearing clicks and beeps and all sorts of noise, this happened only just recently which is an issue.  Ive pluged in a very old phone ( non wireless ) and that didnt seem to have many/any noise down the line.  So i re plugged in the uniden phone, and unplugged the phone line from the modem, 30 seconds later, the line was clear and crisp.  plug the modem back in and wait 30 seconds and the line is again distorted.  I am using the telecom supplied line filters on the phone connection, and i have tried some others i had aswell.   So question is, has anyone else had this issue, my understanding is that 802g is 2.4 and my phone is 5.8 so shouldnt have an issue, the phone base is located a long way away from the modem aswell. 

Anythoughts of what this could be, im on the phone to telecom ( on hold ), but i doubt they will be able to help

I don't have an answer unfortunately but have experienced the exact same thing. You are not alone lol. I have a 5.8 Uniden and Thomson wireless modem and it does the exact same thing, interference galore, interestingly our 2.4 WDECT phone has few if any issues with interference. The phones are fine with an old belkin router too.

I gave up trying to find a solution and just use the 2.4 WDECT phone now :( hopefully someone has an idea as to what is wrong.

wont the 2.4 phone interfere with the wifi signal though as theywould both be on 2.4, but i guess different channels? i bought a 5.8 phone thinkg they would be good, but so far have been more of a pain than anything..

So buy a new phone or buy a new modem.. hmmm

so there's a channel conflict maybe? Tried changing the channel used on the modem from Auto to a set channel? Instructions here:

May have misunderstood the problem ... correct me if so

and just how is that post suppose to help? ive used 3 filters already, and have moved the modem to numerous locations.  If by "proper install" you mean a filter installed at the junction point, then i dont really see or understand how that would help?  Are the filters installed at the junction points better than the filters on each jack point?  perhaps you could elaborate..

yes, they are better. Chances are the 3 filters you have tried are the worst of the worst, and are letting too much of the upstream from your modem back into the phone causing the noise.

I have a phone here that becomes unusable with a plugin filter and adsl active, a proper install and it is fine - its a moderately old 900Mhz analog one. Same symptoms, beeps and blips and low audio level. Had an old panasonic do the same at mums.
