I have purchased a LG Cu920 touchscreen phone for my daughter (xmas prezzie)

the network specs are GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 and HSDPA 850 / 1900, HSDPA, 3.6 Mbps.

when i put a telecom xt sim card in it, it cant find network (no plmn found) and shows no signal strength. It has however, at random times received a backlog of several text messages at once.

does this mean that the phone should work for calls as well and perhaps has a fault, or do the telecom text message system and normal call system work differently?

if anyone has one of these phones working on xt i would be grateful for any settings that i may have to input.

when i do a manual network search it says 'no plmn found' when i set it to automatic i have no signal

Handset then have you tried another carriers sim in the phone

thanks c71931f, its good to hear that somone else had one of these phones on xt working fine. it gives me some assurance that im not flogging a dead horse.

i left it on with the sim card in until the battery went flat ( about 2 days all up ). twice during that time it received a group of 4-5 txts that had been sent to it ( like a phone does when you come back into range from outside network coverage area ). both times i looked at phone, still showing no reception.

I have tried 2g network cards in phone, full signal strength and work fine. i have also tried my xt sim card from my nokia in the lg and have the same problem. the sim card when put in my nokia has full 3g coverage in the same position as when the lg has none.

Are you %100 sure you have the model that supports 850/2100mhz UMTS and not 900/2100mhz UMTS?

only spec sheets i can find say

Network GSM 850 MHz / 900 MHz / 1800 MHz / 1900 MHz
UMTS UMTS 850 MHz / UMTS 1900 MHz (so i dont think it comes as a 900/2100 model)

which i figured would be fine as the other lg i own has the same network specs and runs sweet on xt.

had the handset fully charged sitting on my desk today and it has recognised telecom nz with the little 3g symbol showing up with no bars from time to time. also receiving txts at times.

pretty sure it must be something wrong with the handset and not just me going a little mental
