The firewall settings are critical if you are twao get a good connection speed. Due to the nature of the Bittorrent file transfer protocol you are rewarded with higher transfers if you contribute back to the torrent.

Generally if you are running on a computer directly connected it isn't a problem due it having a public IP. However if you're using NAT you'll need to enable port fowarding (even though Azureus does support UPNP, I have had limited success with NAT devices that support UPNP). Azureus NAT info

Note for the moderator: Bittorrent is a file protocol, it isn't specifically a means of downloading pirated software/movies/music/media. I use it on a weekly basis to download bits and pieces of Linux distros/GPL'ed programs. There are quite a lot of people who use the protocol to pirate media though. :(

Thank you and of course nothing illegal behind.
I am experiencing low speed, however NAT has been set up, port forwarded and firewall has been disabled.

I am perfectly comfortable with BitTorrent or any other file sharing being discussed. Its all very valid technology, with good legal uses.

Could you give me more specific advice regarding the transfer settings?
Max upload speed, max dl speed, max ul slots per torrent, max number of connections per torrent, max global connections, etc
