I have a shiny new Telecom XT T-Stick that I got “free” for the sum of $30. It is not too bad an offer, the first month it takes my full $30 for the 500M cap, then I get to use it at 10c/M.

One of the reasons I decided to go this way is the provision of on-line data usage reports for this pre-pay service, which is good.

My problem is, to log onto the pre-pay data usage, I need to click on “send me a password”, which goes as a txt to the data modem.  No problem, I read that with the “telecom connect” application, enter it, and I am in!  The txt message says it will expire in 1 hr – which it certainly does.  So, I wish to change the password to something more permanent, but -  no – there is no option for changing password on this page, and no way to navigate anywhere else…

Next time I want to read my data usage, I have to go through all the same – click on “send password”, read the txt and enter that.

With my other phone, I have a username and log-in, which needed my telecom account number, the usage meter looks the same, but allows me to back out, and change password etc at will.

The result of this is that I can read the data usage when actually on-line with the modem – I can’t log in on my broadband and read the usage – unless I enable the modem, click the “send password”, read the txt, shut down the modem, log in on broadband, then read the usage – quite annoying.

Does anyone know if there is a better way?

Yes I agree it is a senseless system, but that is the way they have made it for some reason.

You have a page where you can enter a permanent password - I have two mobile data only SIM cards and have passwords in both, that I created. I can't remember the URL, but IIRC it's on the page where you see the meter (if not, someone else here will tell you).

Yes you can change the password

You need to be connected with the t-stick for this to work

goto

http://yt.telecom.co.nz/mobile

Log in by getting the temp password, once logged in you can change the password - there is a link down the bottom of the screen.

Yes, Nitrotech has hit the nail on the head. When connected via your T-Stick, use this URL:

http://yt.telecom.co.nz/mobile/

and you can change the password, as well as check your usage.

When NOT connected via your T-Stick, use this URL:

http://www.telecom.co.nz/mbbmeter

which lets you check your usage, but NOT change your password.

I have both of those set up as Icons in Firefox for easy access and they work most of the time. Occasionally, I get a message that the service is unavailable, please try later, but it doesn't happen very often any more, just once in a while.

That's where you can change your password.

I have complained to a number of people about this, but no action yet (I suspect due to being christmas / new years and all!).

Wow - many thanks guys - that is exactly what I was looking for, and not where the info that comes with the stick, nor the Telecom help pages take you.
Very much appreciated.
Cheers all and happy new year!

If you access caller tunes or your online pxt gallery they have links to the change password URL. But the mbb meter doesn't.

Glad to hear you are sorted.

Or you can PM me and I will reset your password in the LDAP directory directly ;). That is if the above link doesn't work.

I think that Telecom needs to re-design Your Telecom.
For prepaid customers to purchase an add-on you need to go through a online form. This should be done through Your Telecom. You should just be able to add your prepaid mobile to your Your Telecom account. It would be much more simple to the end user.
