Hopefully this is the right place to ask, forgive me if its not.
I purchased a new XT phone from Telecom on the 29th and already it is away being repaired due to a camera issue.  I asked at the Telecom store if they had a refund or exchange option and they said its on a case by case basis and only if the phone has a serious fault.  Does anyone know if they have a 7 day right of return if you aren't happy with the product?

I don't think it does,

7-Day right of return is a retailers option.

parallel imported do this, DSE do a 14-day and Torpedo7 do a 365-day.

All with conditions of course, but as far as I can tell, Telecom don't

being a camera issue is either firmware or camera flex cable if it's a Sony, so that would only be a minor fault in Telecom and most other electronic goods books

I have moved across the ditch.  Now residing in Melbourne as a VOIP/Video Technical Trainer/Engineer.

Where did you buy from? The Telecom online shop has a 7-day return policy.

I bought it at the Telecom store in George street, Dunedin.

online and door to door salesmen in NZ have to give a 7 (or is it 14 I can't remember) day right of return by law.

Retail stores and similar have no such obligation, although some retailers offer it by choice.

Of course for faults you can always take things bakc within the warranty period (and much longer but lets not derail into CGA discussions about 'reasonable' here). The reailer is not obliged to offer you a refund, but they must either fix the product within a reasonable amount of time, or replace it (of course, he can choose to offer you a refund if he wants to)

Generally with phones, they will inspect it and if they can repair it for less than the cost of a new phone, they will. If they can't then you get a new phone. If the phone is sent away for repaiur you should be able to get a loan phone from the store during the time it is away.

I was offered a loan phone, but at a $150 bond, I declined and the fact that I have an old motorola with a 2degrees sim in it for times such as this. I guess there is always Trademe to sell it.
