Hi All,

Am trying to work out what a Minimum repayment plan would be for a recently disconnected account that is est $800arrears.  I was told that as long as you are paying a minimum of $10.50pwk they cannot hand the debt to a collection agency (baycorp) is this right? Any telecom reps on the boards who can answer this? or if there is a monthly guideline they have to follow

Why don't you just call Telecom Credit on 128 and arrange a repayment plan instead of trying to beat the system?

Because the last person i spoke to on their credit team made me want to beat my head against the wall - this is a forum post to just get some information around minimum repayment standards if anyone is aware of them - not trying to beat the system.

It most certainly is beating the system.

Try 128 again, if you're not happy with how you're call is handled ask to speak to a team leader.

If the debt owed is $800 and at a rate of $10.50 it is going to take SIX years to pay! If I was owed that amount of money then I too wouldnt be happy with such an arrangement and I would send it off to debt collection.

Oops my bad - it was per week not per month. I must be an idiot because I dont owe anyone except a mortgage which I am already 8 years ahead of my loan agreement.

They do have a standing - you owe them, they could just say "no, pay up the whole amount" and take you on that... I think they accepted it just for being nice.
