I bought the prepaid telecom t-stick for $29 with 512mb free data in december.

I used the 512 mb in december and have not used it since so I thought I had no more data.

THis morning , I checked and my t-stick was working - I called telecom and they said I had 500mb of free data, and I also had $5 credit amount.

I explained this to telecom and they had no idea of how I got the 500mb of free data, or the $5 credit. I was wondering if this was due to the recent telecom outages, although I do not live in the affected area.

Your 500MB is an allowance for $29.95 which is a like a cap for upto 500MB, it is not free.

For example, you will pay for the first 300MB at 10c per MB, then the next 200MB is included.

You have a balance of $5, which equates to 50MB, you will need to topup to use any more.

I'm not sure what you mean.

Telecom said, that I have 512 mb of free data. And, I've now used about 100mb of data and I still have my $5.

The only condition is that I have to use it by the end of feb or I lose it.

The 512MB is the plan you are on.

Telecom don't deduct the full plan value at the start of the calendar month. You pay 10c per MB up to $29.95 and then receive 200MB free.

When you look at your balance you are on the 512MB plan and have 512MB available and only have $5 credit. You haven't yet paid for the entire 512MB. When you use the internet your have used your first 50MB will be charged at 10c/MB you will find your balance drops to $0 and you won't be able to use the internet until you top up.
