Thank you everyone for doing this. Thank you Neal for bringing this to my attention. What this person is saying is absolutely disgusting and has actually made me feel quite ill about the whole thing.

It is very hard having a family member in the 'trenches' doing their best day in & day out with equally commited colleagues in what is undeniably a tough & awful situaton for any company to be in. To then have a person take criticism of a company and turn it personal attacks is completely unwarranted.

Disappointing responses from twitter aside, i am confident that Telecom will treat this with the seriousness deserved as my expereince with them and thier staff has always been fantastic.

Again thank you all for your efforts.

That person is so brave - teases everyone who posted, but quickly deleted the offensive messages. Knows what's coming.

It's all about the Internet and legal borders. In New Zealand an online service is responsible for any libel posted - so if you post a comment into someone's blog saying our Prime Minister does this and that, then the blogger is responsible for the comment - not you.

In the U.S. the person posting the comment is responsible. We known well that people posting comments are not always forthcoming with their true identities.

Twitter is just keeping a distance, trying to get into a "safe harbour". If they don't get involved they don't pottentianly violate someone's "freedom of speech".

However, "freedom of speech" is not a legal figure in New Zealand, and our defamation laws are a lot stricter than those in the U.S.

As I said, I would hope Telecom put some effort into that, bring the police into the case and get a court order for Twitter to handover any and all information related to that person.

@freitasm, yep i understand that ;)
Agree with hoping Telecom can extract more info.
NealR says"A formal complaint has been lodged with the NZ Police. " so hopefully they (the police) follow it up too

Also done, I reported this guys a couple of days ago, I wonder what the rules are here regarding some of the information he is saying, obviously twitter is a free medium, and I'm not one to stifle free speech, but this isn;t really speech rather ... filth and offensive comments that although are ludicrous do carry the weight of abuse to them.

Love to know if this person ever gets located ... I have some friends that would like to meet him :)

Quoted from http://help.twitter.com/forums/26257/entries/18311 'their rules'

*Violence and Threats: You may not publish or post direct, specific threats of violence against others.

So it would seam they are ignoring their own rules in favour of the twerp
