I bought an iphone off trademe. They said it was unlocked... it works on 2d and Vodafone but not xt.

It goes in and the phone knows there is a sim but it just says 'no service'

help?

Is it an iPhone 3G or the original iPhone? The original iPhone won't work on XT because it's GSM/GPRS/EDGE only, not WCDMA.

Also, is this XT SIM working on any other handset?

Also make sure '3G' is turned on under Settings -> General -> Network.

Also (as we found out today, with my friends trademe purchased iPhone) check In SBSettings (If your iPhone is jailbroken a menu will pop up if you swipe your finger over the time) that 3G is also turned on in there as well
