Switched my ADSL from Xnet to Xtra yesterday, everything is pretty much the same now as far as I can determine except I cannot access vodafone.co.nz

All other websites I have tried are working except Vodafone.

Tried pinging...

ivstinivs@television:~$ ping vodafone.co.nz

Hi All,

Might be too late for this thread, but anyway...this problem could be because your traffic was at some point passing through a link with a limited MTU size. I had this happen with a Telstra ADSL connection, it turned out that I had an old set of settings that did limit the MTU size, and going to the latest ones fixed it. So I don't know if any of your fiddling would have updated the ADSL settings. I have a vague impression that Xtra can actually do this for you remotely without even asking, they did it once years ago to my connection, which since it was not an Xtra one turned out to be a good way of killing it.

But anyway, if what you were seeing was due to the MTU size issue, it is not an Xtra problem, it is due to the way the Vodafone web server and network is set up.

Vodafone has contacted another service provider and got the issue resolved

It was not a vodafone or xtra issue just a provider in between

Out of interest whose network sits between Vodafone and Telecom? I thought you both would have passed data through the Auckland/Wellington peering exchanges or directly to each other. Don't have to answer, and bonus points if it's FX Networks :)

Not related to FX networks in any way
