Ok, again, high latency in wow this afternoon/evening. This is odd. Normally at peak time we notice hardly any difference in latency. I think hubby is going to be a little peeved off when he gets back home and we can't get our frosts.

Yes, we have it here in hamilton as well, everything seems to be very jerky..
Fast one minute then stalling the next.
A speedtest is stalling halfway thru a test and pingtimes are in the 300's to oz which normally are around 70ms to 80ms

It was the same last night as well. I've restarted my router twice, one strange thing is my IP address isn't changing on reconnect, it normally does when I reboot the router and Interleaving seems to be turned off as its in Fast path now..

This is my current speed to Sydney

Last night I was getting a 600ms+ ping and only about 100kbps downstream speed, normaly I get around 50ms and 10MB/ps to Sydney. Quite annoying as I can't play EVE Online atm...

I just called telecom and the nice lady in the phillipines told me it was because I was on bigtime and did I realise that during peak hours it was shaped and that the was cause of my problem and there were no problems with the network.

sheesh !

Latency tonight is not as bad as last night, but still something is up. Better be right by the weekend lol

Speedtests show things are normal. Pingtest is normalish. Traceroute to my wow server in Boston is normal.

I thought Interleaving is off by default with Xtra. As i remember them asking if I wanted it turned on. I said No, I am a gamer, leave it off.

That's what my Linksys AG300 says. It is set to multimode. Still not cabinetised. Although can't wait for that to happen as it is at the end of my street, about 6-7 houses away.

We aren't on Bigtime, we are on Pro. So that can't be our problem. We didn't go with Bigtime cuz of the shaping.

Just did a speedtest and this is the result.  8:36pm this evening

This morning @ 11:06am  it was:

Now this is a big difference and I don't think in this day and age we should see a big dramatic change in speed/ping.  It should be consistant.

Yeah, this is what my linksys says..
She insisted that interleaving was on at their end even though my router is saying its off.
It was turned on up until yesterday - said interleaving under DSL Path Mode.
So I requested they turn it off their end and see what happens ..

Yeah same dramas again tonight - I'm getting 600+ms pings to xnet users 15km's away. It's thru steam though so not sure if it's TC or steam to blame. Probably both. Either way there's no PC gaming happening tonight!

Strangely xbox live is still <50ms - how's that work!?

Sounds like the same muppet I got! same fake accent and same out-of-the-box answer 'big time is a managed plan'

Seems like the standard response these days... I'd be happy to pay $5 more a month to actually have someone even slightly useful on the helpdesk. The girl I spoke to earlier didn't even know what Steampowered games was.

This morning at 6am everything is flying along.
Interleaving is back on in my router and I have a different ip address when I rebooted my router.
Lets hope it stays this way.

Yeah every thing is perfect during the day.  Just come evening and it goes sour!

Just did this speedtest.

Pro Package, Not Cabinetised Yet. Interleaving Off.

This is what it should still be in the afternoon/evening.

It seems odd that all of a sudden Telecom customers are having bad latency in the evenings this week.  I've been back since November and not had a problem till now.  So what is Telecom doing.

It would be really nice if Telecom had a online ticketing system instead of us having to call up their call centre and talk to their staff that are situated overseas.

Other web services offer online ticketing systems.  My webhost has this, so when something is wrong with my website or the server, I put in a support ticket and get a response quickly.

If they implemented this they would be able to get a bigger picture of problems on their network.
