nzpossum: I wouldn't hold your breath Mortiis. I'm going to call them in about an hour so i'll post back with whatever lies they tell me (i'm sure it will be something totally different again). Damm i hope Fair Go pick up this story as it may be our last hope.

Possum, yeah I know. I've been told something different nearly every day for over a week now, it's absolutely pathetic. be sure to DEMAND an answer from them and tell them that you ARE NOT THE ONLY ONE affected by this, and that Fair Go have been contacted.

Maybe if we get all of us to write into fair go with our story? Might be the way to go?

I for one will be writing up my "report" about it tomorrow night if I find some time, and I will also be submitting a copy as a formal complaint directly to Telecom, and might look at fairgo if people are interested here.

It all seems to have gone very quiet on this front... how are you all getting on? What's happened to your connection speeds etc?

As for me, Telecom are now simply telling me that it is in fact down to the bandwidth shaping (traffic management) of the Big Time Plan and that if I don't like it I can swap to a different plan - or words to that effect at least.

In the meantime my transfer rates now seem fairly steady at aroun 230-250K/sec, which whilst nothing like the 700K/s to 1Mb/sec I was getting previously, is now considerably more useable than the rates I was getting this time last week!

Well my torrent speeds have improved a bit more.
But the HTTP is so slow I've switched back to downloading with torrents
Wheras last time torrents were throttled so I switched to HTTP downloading.

I think it's gone quiet cause people just can't be bothered anymore
or they got banned lol

I really can't be bothered so just changed to Pro, hopefully temporarily. I use the net frequently for video chat, gaming and remote desktop'ing into work. With the bad HTTP speeds recently I couldn't do any of those properly almost at any time of the day.

I download a bit (~40GB) a month sometimes a little more, but when I download I'd like reasonably consistent speeds.

Between 2am-9am (off-peak hours), i used to top 2.0mb/s on torrent if there are good seeds etc since I live 30 metres away from the roadside cabinet. Until, from 3 days ago, torrent speeds have reduced significantly down to 250~300 kb/s. I read posts here and I assume this has got to do with the Big Time traffic management, but don't you guys think 2mb/s -> 250 kb/s is just too radical a change?
I mean, come on.. 2000 -> 250 = traffic management? seriously?

250KB/s and turn it on to download 24/7 that's about 20GB a day and 140GB/week and that may equal to 560GB per month...lol....I think it's still cheap for $60/month

I notices the same thing.

However, at 1:40-1:59AM I was getting <5kBps for a torrent which increased almost instantly to 200+ on the dot of 2AM.

There should be no traffic management from 2am-9am, according to Telecom at least.

This is not the case and it was extensively discussed in previous pages.
