1eStar: I just spent 18 minutes on the phone to (probably) the philipines trying to add the smartphone 1G to my prepaid. After sending the request through the guy rang me back and said he could not do it and I'd have to visit a telecom store. (grumble)

Anyway some interesting facts for you all:

Data is charged at $1 per Meg for the first 24 Meg ($24 I'll run up on the first day of the month)

Texts are 20c for first 70 ( someones already posted this)

So if you don't text, 1 gig data for 24 bux is good, if you do $60 top ups then it costs you $18 a month

So data won't be charged at 10c/MB till 300MB on the smarthpone 1GB extra plan? I thought it's $29.95 till 300MB and the remaining 700MB will be charged $8.05 to total $38/month incl 2500 texts?

Do whatever you want to do man.

I pass on what I was quoted by Telecom:

$24 for first 24megs at $1 a MB
$14 for first 70texts at 20c a text

I just gave detailed test results to billgates in a pm, but basically i just sent a whole load of texts, and found it capped at 50 texts (ie $10), which would leave $28 for data, which i discovered is also billed at 10c/MB based on calculations from my prepaid balance.

I'll hopefully get a chance to talk it thru with a telecom store tomorrow. I wonder if their billing system isn't working properly. The CSR told me the billing rates twice today, but he couldn't get the system to accept the request

CSR you spoke to was prob misinformed. eXDee provided me a copy n paste from his "your telecom" account info page and it showed that after 50 texts he was not being charged anymore ($10 for 2500 texts is the breakdown) and he had used 60 odd MB and was charged $6 for the data part (10c/MB) and the info also clearly showed that he was subscribed to the smartphone 1GB plan too.

so it's $10 for 2500 text messages and $28 for 1GB data ($28 for 280MB actually and the next 720MB is free) which makes up the $38/month charge but of course you are only charged what you use with XT which is a bonus. Add to the fact that with $60 top up, you get $20 bonus credit which means you are actually getting 1GB data for $21/month on XT making it cheapest mobile broadband offering in the country.

Do whatever you want to do man.

Well it's all a bit of a mystery, I'm now on the smartphone 1G extra. The rates quoted to me by the telecom store are:

$1 per Meg for first 24 MB
20c per text for first 70 text

So whether because I'm on prepaid the rates are different? Or whether the information the CSR quoted is faulty. Who knows? I'll keep an eye on how I get charged, it is difficult to monitor on prepaid tho...

Just used 40MB. $24 has disappeared out of my balance. The prepaid smartphone extra charging regime must be different to the postpaid. Still the cheapest 1G I can get mobile nationwide.

^ this is what eXDee PM'd me. pretty sure he is on prepaid too.

looking at Your Telecom atm, im currently on
26 texts x 20c each = $5.20
55.3MB of data x 10c /mb = $5.53
Which works out correct with $10.73 which is what ive been charged from from my account balance.

So its definitely not $1/MB for data.

If i go into my plan details, i see this:
Smartphone Txt 2500
Monthly Fee $0.00
Included Texts 2500
Additional Texts 20c

Smartphone 1GB
Monthly Fee $38.00
Included Data 1GB
Overage $0.10/MB

as you can see he is being charged 10c/mb on prepaid and on the smartphone 1GB plan.

An update on my account - the last message i sent you was at 60 texts.
Since then ive sent 35 more and used 7.4mb of data. This puts me on 95/2500 texts and 80.5/1024mb for data.

$3.14 has been removed from my account balance. This doesn't really seem to add up, but i can see it taking credit off as i use more data.

PM above you sent me shows 55.5MB data. Now it's 80.5MB. Extra 25MB used @ $2.5 which prob added up in $3.14 you were charged. Left to figure out what happened with .64 cents. May be international text? voicemail? call?

Current credit: $79.73
Current Texts: 27/2500
Current Data: 69.9/1024

As of this moment its now
Prepaid Balance: $71.99
Current Texts: 95/2500

I havent called voicemail or placed any calls since PMing you. Don't have any internation contacts on this current phone.

Just discovered that I cannot get the SmartPhone addons because I am on a corporate plan. Special Offers page states only that you must be connected to XT :(

this is a slap in the face!

*333 appears to be incorrect.
It says im on Text Anyone 2500, and when i go to broadband balance it says:
You are currently on the mobile broadband 500mb plan. You have 351mb remaining.

If i try and go to change plan, it says its not supported on my phone. This is prepaid.
