i know someone that called telecom and asked why he wasn't getting up'ed to 80gb and when they said it wasn't for old customers he said he wants to terminate his account with them and they said they will speak to their supervisor and they put him up to 80gb.
so it seems telecom has no respect for old loyal customers until you threaten them.Undecided

Wow, I should have thought of that when they rang me to change my Big Time plan. However I am not that determined to terminate my plan anyway, if they do decide to just let me terminate my account.

It really makes you wonder, with all that extra data available due to the cancellation of the Big Time plan, are they are going to double up all their plans in the near future? That would be brilliant, because 20gb now is hardly enough to download and watch all the video content.... or to fuel our youtube addicction.

But then again, I don't really understand the in depth economics of the internet . Maybe the government is restricting Telecom to increase their data caps double as much as their competitors, because they deem it as unfair?

seems from reading in other forums alot of people are calling them and asking to be doubled and telecom are doing it.

are they are going to double up all their plans in the near future?

needs to be 10x what it is, just look at whats the ISP's in aussie are offering.

So what apparently don't we care about?  We put out pretty decent offers for new connections, we also run a fair few retention offers as well

current customers. (maybe SNAP will give you some pointers on how to look after customers properly.)

doozy:  We put out pretty decent offers for new connections,

yep bait the hook and sting'em with a 24month contract and huge disconnection fee.

doozy:  we also run a fair few retention offers as well

is that what you call bribing with cheapo gifts to stay on a contract.

I think there are quite a few ex Big Timer users who are in the 60-180GB / month usage range who are currently on Pro trying to restrict their normal usage down while looking around at other ISP's pricing with itchy feet.

For example Total Home Lite + Pro (I'm in Auckland) is $120, if we use 60GB (20 over the Pro 40) we're looking at $160 /month.

We could go to Maxnet Pure DSL 60GB for $125 + Xnet XFV ($11.95) and save $23 per month.  Even more savings if we're willing to sacrifice a bit of peak time international performance (eg: Snap and Vodafone etc), which we are.

To us 60GB+ @ 5Mbit is way more useful than 40GB @ 10Mbit, that's what made Big Time great imo.. $100 /month for Phone + Internet of 60GB+ was really good value.

If double data was available to existing users in exchange for being on a new 12 month contract, we would definitely take it up and stop bothering to weigh the alternatives with itchy feet.

what a really silly answer, perhaps a more constructive reply would be to say what it is that you like about snap for instance and what specific things you didn't like from telecom since you have his ear?

I went and looked at the snap site and they charge an early termination fee granted not as much as Telecom is that what you mean?

Sorry I couldn't see on their site what they offered for existing customers oh do you mean umetered access to services like TVNZ onDemand?

Sorry but I don't understand your last response what do you mean what bribe ?

@jefferyh

While Votan's response was not constructive...

Snap has some new interesting addons eg: Snap Nights, $5 for 3 nights of unlimited off peak from 1am-7am. Purchasable as many times as you like in a month.

Very interesting option to us... means we could on a smaller/cheaper cap plan and just schedule downloads, steam updates after hours on a day when we'd activated Snap Nights.

Still waiting for Snap to do handover in Auckland though so adsl traffic doesn't go AK > CHCH > AK and gain 30-50ms of latency (gamers curse!)

I am not happy with these comments and have warned VOTAN. We should treat everyone with respect, regardless of your believes.

I would not be surprised if Doozy decides to just step away from this thread and leave everyone else without answers.

Votan being reprimanded for making valid statements. What sort of forum is this? If an unofficial Telecom spokesperson is going to 'wimp off' over comments like that, well ......... I better not say any more than that.

I'm still wondering how Telecom justify charging us more money for less service.
