I dont know if this applies in this instance with the original question but on the ADSL2+ service availability tool website it does say that it may take up to 90 days after the upgrade has taken place before the end user sees the benefit of the upgrade

Have not gone into the modem yet to look at settings - as I need to look up the modem IP - so I get into it. As those instructions are not included in the manual.

Default ip address on the Thomson's is: 192.168.1.254

You can double check this by looking at the setting for "default gateway" in the properties of your netwwork connection or Start > Run > cmd > ipconfig /all

Ok. I phoned telecom today for an update on my ADSL2+.

Had a girl tech FTW!

She turned interleaving off, changed my profile for a lower power threshold.

The line rate in the modem is the rate it's connected to the exchange/cabinet equipment at.

A speedtest will show what throughput you are getting after your traffic goes through all the other bits of the network to a particular destination this will vary due with congestion/load, the route taken to the server and other factors.

Basically that's decent speed now.

Disconnections can be caused by all sorts of things, if it happens a lot ring up again and let them know.

Yeah it seems that DC was a oneoff.

Maybe the girl at telecom was still fiddling with a few things after I hung up.

With interleaving off, if you moved house and switched your broadband connection to your new house, will the new owner of your old house automatically have interleaving off on their broadband connection? How can you tell whether it's on or off?

I'm going to be plugging in my Linksys AG300 soon - just to compare if the new modem is better or not.

From the admin area there, I can tell if Interleaving is off, as it says FAST, instead of Interleaved.

But yeah, these Thomoson modems, don't give the same type of information.
