Have not gone into the modem yet to look at settings - as I need to look up the modem IP - so I get into it. As those instructions are not included in the manual.

Default ip address on the Thomson's is: 192.168.1.254
You can double check this by looking at the setting for "default gateway" in the properties of your netwwork connection or Start > Run > cmd > ipconfig /all

kiwipearls: Ok. I phoned telecom today for an update on my ADSL2+.
Had a girl tech FTW!
She turned interleaving off, changed my profile for a lower power threshold.
These are my modem stats:
Link Information
Uptime:
0 days, 0:04:51
DSL Type:
G.992.5 annex A
Maximum Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]:
920 / 19.068
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]:
860 / 19.192
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [kB/MB]:
0,00 / 56,00
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]:
12,5 / 17,5
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]:
4,0 / 3,0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]:
16,5 / 15,5
Vendor ID (Local/Remote):
TMMB / IKNS
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote):
0 / 0
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote):
196.609 / 0
Loss of Power (Local/Remote):
0 / 0
Loss of Link (Remote):
0
Error Seconds (Local/Remote):
196.609 / 0
FEC Errors (Up/Down):
0 / 0
CRC Errors (Up/Down):
1 / 13
HEC Errors (Up/Down):
0 / NA
And my speedtest result:
Do all these paramaters make sense for living 200meteres away from the cabinant? Which figure is more accurate the modem one or the speedtest one. Telecom's speedtest was about the same.
Old speedtest in my Sig from last week.
tombrownzz:
With interleaving off, if you moved house and switched your broadband connection to your new house, will the new owner of your old house automatically have interleaving off on their broadband connection? How can you tell whether it's on or off?
