Hi There a friend of mine has a Motorola back flip that i bought for her of a NZ website brand new. The problem is it keeps sending two of the same txts from time to time and not reviving txts straight away and when it does receive them there will be a couple other txts also. Any ideas what the problem could be?

I would give a software reset on the phone and see how that goes.
Alternativly you could try and get hold of the 2.1 Update which has been made available for AT&T users. Not sure how it will go On Tcom though

Agree, Flash firmware first. The 2.1 runs very smooth and works well on XT bit of a hassle to install tho. Otherwise it could be a SIM related issue.

Thanks for the info. It was bought online and is not a XT edition was told its a Europe batch and the XT ones are a US batch. Can i update the software from the phone or does it need to be done from the computer?

If it's a european one it *probably* will never work properly on XT, due to not having the correct frequency sets.

Many phones have 2 versions: 850mhz/2100mhz (typically american) and 900mhz/2100mhz (Typically european).

Telecom's XT Network runs primarily on 850mhz, so if you have a European version of the phone, then it will not pick up this network.

Telcom also run a 2100mhz network in main centres where additional capacity is required. This is why the phone will work ok some of the time.
This network is not comprehensive, and will give the end user a very, very poor experience if trying to use a european device.

Quick add to my comment above, this is a general comment about *many* handsets, I'm not familiar with the Backflip in particular

Yes i think that's the problem. The seller ezigadgets.co.nz is giving me the run around i have had it two months and nothing but problems. I asked if it was compatible with XT before i bought it and he said yes. I took a look under FAQs on his website and it says ( unfortunately all our products are only compatible with vodafone network ) he keeps telling me to try different sim cards 2d vodafone the phone will probably operate as it should on vodafone. Also cant update to androld 2.1 as there is no update for euro version phones. Am i within my rights to ask for a refund?

Very much so you are, if he has advertised it as being xt compatible then he's obviously mislead you.

I have to ask, why didn't you just buy it from telecom?
