Hiya.  first time up..but great forums.

Have just bought a Nokia 6255..love the 512Meg memory..for MP3s etc..

1/  Can't record conversations.. my F500i could..great at work if the boss was on my back..
2/  Can't record radio songs..probably fair enough  with copyright.. any mods available for that ?
3/  Protective adhesive screen protectors...any suggestions or links ?
4/  Radio only work with headset in,,,crystal clear..but again..any mods..?
5/  Caller contact pictures don't display when they call..they did on my F500i..again any ideas on that.

I paid $14 for a DKU2 USB cable with software..Telecom wanted $100 for cable alone..YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME.!!

Other than that,,a good phone so far..

By the way,,,why is WAP browsing so damn expensive...?...

Not phone conversations you cant, but press the record key with phone closed and you will record the room...

Doubt it.

Any generic PDA screen protector cut down to size would do... never had a prob with this phone though, being a flip...

4/ Radio only work with headset in,,,crystal clear..but again..any mods..?
Needs it for use as aerial. I cut one off and just stuck the plug in there, reception was worse than useless.

Not on the outside screen they dont. To have that happening you need to disable answer on flip open, then open the phone while its ringing, and wah-la - theres your caller contact picture id thingy.

I bet your DKU2 cable is a cheap fake. Nothing wrong with the functionality though. A real Nokia cable costs retailers more than $50 and they still have to freight it, package it, display it (rent, power etc etc) and sell it (wages and other business expenses). They also have to support it, and provide warranty service. None of these are free. Did you buy your cable off Trademe? If so, then you have your asnwer about the price discrepancy. Not knocking you at all, but selling things low volume in retail stores is expensive...

By the way,,,why is WAP browsing so damn expensive...?...
Yes. Tell us when you know please. We have often discussed telecoms $50 per meg WAP charges. Its terrible.

Well $99 isn’t so bad when you think not so long ago the average price of a Data Cable from Telecom was $199.00.

For $99.00 you get support, warranty and the Genuine Nokia Product is better that the after market ones (trust me I use to import the after market ones). Most Dealers are unlikely to be impressed when you come and complain to them about your $14 data cable not working, equally is the Nokia Care Line.

As for WAP well yes its a little on the heavy side, but the amount of people that actually use it?? Next to none.

Cheers

You would be surprised, did you not see Telecoms revenue form WAP? Theres a PDF file floating round here somewhere with that data from Telecom.

Everybody uses WAP and everybody gets ripped off by using it. My only complaint about Telecoms mobile service

Great feedback..very helpful.

DSE do a Force USB cable and CD with stacks of files on it for about $50, they offer pretty good support.  They don't stock the one for my Nokia yet..

If the cheapie doesn't then I'll buy the original..no problems.

The componentry must be pretty much the same..

Perhaps that was badly worded on my part Embarassed. What I meant to say was the majority of users do not use WAP for chargeable services. Most Customer do not even know what WAP is.

Being ill informed, I don’t think so.

Cheers

I won't go into how informed or not you are... I do however have access to some very detailed data on WAP usage, and you are wrong about mobile phone usage... fact!

You are right about 1 thing however, most customers do not know what WAP is. And nor should they... they care about Super 14 results, News and Entertainment etc... the services, not the technology...

Felix, you have data on chargeable or non chargeable services? Again I do not think most customers use Chargeable WAP services, unless you can prove me wrong?? (And no I don’t mind being proven wrong).

Cheers

Hi Felix,

Sorry if it was sounding like I was asking you to share the information! I'll just have to take your word for it on this one.

Cheers
