thrashcardiom: I have been informed that the official 2.3 update will be released on Monday.

No signs of it yet...

Yes, I have noticed a distinct lack of update!

It is still Sunday in some parts of the world, and maybe Kies servers are hosted there. Also, Monday isn't over until 23:59.

Just being optimistic for a change. :)

old3eyes: Good news. I assume the Telecom stores can do the updates for those who don't / won't (wife won't let them possibly trash her new fone)??

Or for those whose phones refuse to connect to Kies or vice versa. :)

And I've got one of those damned phones that won't connect to Kies using either XP or windows 7 Pro!
Grrrrrrrrrrrrr

Got it in the end.  Basically hastle free.  Seems a lot faster. No apps or DATA lost.  Thanks very much telecom and Amber for her efforts on our behalf.

No apps or data lost but I have lots of applications freezing and having to be forced closed.  Can't get any email but can't change any settings as the application freezes when I try to alter the settings.

Other than that it does feel a bit faster.

Edit:  Can't enter any text as the keyboard doesn't work at all.  Can't tap and can't swype.

I have the samsung keyboard working but swype is completely dead.  I have reset my exchange server mail account and it connected but doesn't actually display any email.  Instead I get a black screen.

Phone works though.  Bonus!

Upgrade went well, restarted, set up straight forward, connected to wireless fine, swype fine . . . . Laughing

(I did restore it to original settings before I started the upgrade tho)

Update went fine, thanks amber and Telecom for finally getting it through. Quadrant score increased from 750 to 968. Wow, much snappier, and faster GPS locks.

Those who have issues with Swype - follow the instructions below:
1. Go to Settings->Applications->Manage Applications
2. Select All tab (next to Downloaded)
3. select Swype
4. Click "Clear Data"

Select Swype as your input, it should work.

Is your Kies connecting and recognizing the phone? Is your phone on stock Telecom ROM?
