Suddenly my email has come up with the  error message saying my peer certificate is revoked,
I went into my certificates and it told me it had a lifetime licence and expired in july 2010 so u tell me
My question is how do I get a new one, so i can send my emails with xtra.
I know you really dont want to know because I use Thunderbird. But thats my choice

You could use Yahoo to send emails instead. I presume this means a copy of the email is stored on Yahoo's webmail server.

In Thunderbird, go to Tools > Account Settings > Outgoing Server (SMTP) > Add >

http://help.yahoo.com/l/au/yahoo7/mail/classic/pop/pop-14.html

Make sure SSL connection security is enabled. Enter as your "User Name:" your entire email@xtra.co.nz address. OK.

Then go to the username@xtra.co.nz option window on the left plane and change the "Outgoing Server (SMTP):" to the new server.

You can change back to the old server later if they sort themselves out.

That might work ,as when I downloaded Thunderbird again to see if it fixed the problem. I selected set up settings and it came up with yahoo instead of xtra. So I put in the xtra settings, from the website.Ok so they may have played around with the server, but this sounds like Telecrims, change stuff and tell noone.Surely its not just my computer

no its not just your PC - my Thunderbird will not send emails either - same error.  I looked at the Telecom Service Status page and it claimed everything was normal.  I Rang their customer support number to get a robot voice telling me I was an hour away from talking to anyone.  Later on I accessed their web site again - and it was down.

This morning I tried again and it still isn't working.

I've advised a few internal contacts via TalkieT of the issues.

The certificate has a bung verification URL contained in it. As a result the fix in post2 works fine.

This seems to be a thunderbird (security checking) bug only, and their userbase is possibly not a lot to worry about. However a mention in the ISP issues thread may not go a miss.

Possibly related to the end of contract between xtra and yahoo.

And yes, automatic setup (as with the android mail app) will direct to yahoo and work fine. Xtra.co.nz appears as a trusted domain to it.
