Well done Telecom.
It's never enough though, my 80 GB a month is usually over 100 GB a month anyway, my 20 and my 18 and my
12 see to that, Free youtube/TV on demand and some local unmetered game servers would half my data.

Oddly enough with the upcoming upgrade of the existing plans when I try to change my plan right now from overage to capped/reduced or upgrade to 60/80GB I can no longer select Total Home Broadband plans and only Total Home plans.

IE my old options would be:

  • Total Home Broadband 40GB capped
  • Total Home Broadband 40GB + 20GB
  • Total Home Broadband 40GB + 40GB

Now they are currently listed as Total Home plans:
Your current plan is: Total Home

  • Total Home Explorer(capped/overage)10GB old /20GB new
  • Total Home Adventure(capped/overage)20GB/40GB new
  • Total Home Pro(only overage, think it was always like that)40GB/60GB new

Any other Total Home Broadband customers in the same boat? Guess I will give them a call Monday if it's not resolved by then so I can have the choice of the right plans. Given my only option right now is to drop to lower usage (Pro probably costs more than my total home plan, it's not very clear..)

Yes I have that problem too, and I need to change my plan from 40GB to 60GB tomorrow as we're over our limit and I've used up my free change for this month already. Looks like I'll need to get on the phone to do it tomorrow.

The new data allowances start being implemeneted as from 1 August, and for each customer they will commence on the next usage period rollover in August.

bugger.  I was cleverly using up all my allowance ready for bigger limits kicking in  today..

I was on the Total Home BB 40GB plan (currently at 42GB usage) and logged in to change plans. I was able to select 60, 80 or 100GB options (although they're now called THBB 60GB, THBB +20GB and THBB +40GB).
I changed to the 60GB option at no extra charge, and if this works as it has in the past, it should happen within 48hrs.

When this happens the data counter goes back to zero, so if you're on any of these plans, changing it manually today is a no brainer in theory. Hopefully this is how it still works.

As far as I'm aware they still charge on a per day basis, so it should work fine

mine looks different (and appears to be totally wrong, it says 'plus 40Gb and plus 60GB,but since there is no 120GB plan it must be a typo.

even if it were correct (i.e. plus 20GB and plus 40GB) it would still look pretty silly and confusing.  why write 'Total Home Broadband Plus 40GB' that way? it sounds like the 'plus' is referring to the plan name, not the data allowance, which means the data allowance actually looks smaller than it should?  Why not just say 'Total Home Broadband 80GB  and Total Home Broadband 100GB?  would be much clearer how much data you get.

How hard is it to write in the correct numbers and not be utterly confusing as to the actual amount of data you get?  Apparently 'very hard'

I'm not on "Total"-anything - just the Adventure 20GB plan, so I assume this change doesn't benefit me at all...
