I own an official Telecom XT Motorola Milestone and awoke last week to find i had no reception but still had data.

I tried a mates XT sim and same problem. Went into Telecom and got them to swap a new sim card for me and said the sim must have made itself faulty. LOL.

Same problem with new sim no reception but fine with data .

Performed a factory reset. Still same problem.

Decided stuff it and ported over to 2degrees.

Changed the Milestones vpn settings for 2degrees and both data and reception work a treat  now just have to wait until I have enough coin to buy an offical 2degrees/vodafone mobile.

So very very odd can anyone advise why my Milestone had issues with all 3 Telecom XT sims??

When yiou went into telecom did you tell them you were having issues as your post says you just got them to swap the sim. If they has known the full story they might have taken a different approach like trying your sim in another milestone to see if the fault followed the sim or device. Then if the fault was still with the device they could ha e compared settings or sent it for repair.
