Someone at Telecom has had a fiddle...again !
Cant they leave well enough alone?

Email playing up yesterday and today its seriously bad and getting worse.

The error messages are wide and varied...bottom line what a lousy email service this new Yahoo 'lite'  that Telecom Xtra has foisted on us all after the pro version was so reliable.

Yeah I have heard o lot of people are having trouble with it again. Personally I would dump it, get it to forward to a gmail address. I stopped using it a few years ago after heaps of problems, mainly with incorrectly classifying emails as spam, and not receiving some emails at all. They blamed the email senders servers not being setup correctly, but I have never had the problem since.

I have been having problems for the last 4 months using my Xtra email with Microsoft Outlook 2010,

I have it set to check every 5 mins and 50% of the time during the day the username/password box would pop up with errors that my usename and password has been rejected, after awhile clicking on send/recieve mail will come through, I have rung Xtra several times on this issue and they just tell to to change this and change that which I know what settings to use as I am getting email ok but the server is rejecting my credentials. last message I recieved this morning was sever interupted or something like that, beginning to annoy me now

Hi,

I can confirm there is a Telecom email issue which has been going on since last week - probably Wednesday 14th December.

Telecom admit they are working on it but a number of people are unable to receive their email etc.

Settings which seem to work for SOME clients are:

send.xtra.co.nz ssl, 465
pop3.xtra.co.nz  ssl, 995

I would suggest logging on via the Yahoo email web mail and check your password is working. In some cases a reset of the password is fixing the issue.

I got a customers system working on Friday using the above process.

HTH

Settings are the same, password is certainly correct and logging into Yahoo Mail is ok and passsword has been changed several times over the last few months.

There was a known issue yesterday which I believed was resolved last night.

If anyone is still having issues I recommend you log a call via 0800 225 598.

I seem to keep getting intermittent service on my Galaxy s2 whereby it will reject the username and password then remove all of my emails. An hour or so later it will accept the exact same credentials and re-download messages.

I've lodged a ticket with Telecom who have said it's an on-going known fault and that I will get a text when it is resolved.

Has anyone else had this issue?

mattwnz:
drquack32: I've been having email issues on the web (page fails to load) for the last day and also over the last 7 days, emails are coming through well delayed.

As an example, the groupy email that comes out around 8am every morning, I got at 7pm, the 1 day emails that come out at midday, I'm getting at 4pm. I've just gotten an email from a mate that was sent at 4pm but only delivered now. Plus my Outlook mail client keeps prompting for passwords not to mention issues checking on the iPhone.

And yes, there are no filters, and I have trouble shooted this right through.

Telecom can you advise is what is going on with the mail servers. I don't mind hassles for a day but on top of todays issues, 7 days of emails being held up is not really cool.

I had that problem myself years ago when I used xtra. I was told it is due to the spam filtering that yahoo use. Not much you can do about it. They say you need to add the address to the whitelist in yahoo mail, as well as fill in a huge form. I couldn't be bothered with that so no longer use it. I also found it amazing how many non spam emails found their way into the junk mail folder, and the only way to find them is to log into webmail to whitelist them. Not much good if you can't log into webmail.

Maybe that would explain the spam I'm getting. This casino spammer idiot keeps sending almost identical emails every 2 days. Driving me mad because my phone goes off every time. Looks like he's already known on spamhaus and others yet we're still receiving them. Judging from the to: line he's done a dictionary attack or something.

Izo.
