During the day I get around 5-6Mbps but these last few days during the night time I've gotten REALLY slow speeds such as the speed test I have posted with this post.

 https://www.speedtest.net/result/1651899710.png

I was wondering what could be the problem as this happens only during the night time and not during the day and also I know that even during the day my download speed is slow and was wondering what I could do to increase it and if it was a problem on my side or telecoms side as I'm in an ADSL 2+ area and also using ADSL2+ modem

Here are some stats which I dont know how to interpret

Thanks for the help

I am not with Telecom, but just had a salesman coming to my door begging for me to switch. Their best deal right now is 60GB for $75/month phone + internet, going to be pretty popular I imagine!

This thread needs modem stats. Even when "fast" it is pretty pathetic really so something is clearly wrong.

Looking at your modem stats, the connect speed looks pretty low for the attenuation.

What is your internal house wiring like?

I can probably safely bet its a self install on hodgepoge internal wiring that has multiple stubbs, 3 wire and 2 wire mixed and a telecom sales person promsing fast internet with a self installation. Without modem stats from when it is (not very) fast and when it is slow to compare its still just shooting in the dark however.

I would expect slow speeds surfing during busy hour which is roughly 7pm - 11pm.
I am concern that you are using speedtest which I assume it uses direct IP address rather than URL that's requires DNS resolution.
Is this a new BB connection(2010) or older?

There are many, many unknowns here, and unless the OP answers the questions we'll all be none the wiser.

Looking at the sync rate the most the OP will get is just under 5Mbps. The location is a key issue - I'd pick it's a location that's still running off an old DSLAM with limited backhaul rather than a fibre fed ISAM. If this is the case there isn't anything that can be done, this area is quite possibly scheduled for upgrade as part of the RBI.

I would say log a fault to your ISP and let them check from the Chorus device(DSLAM), maybe a profile had changed and your seeing the effects. I would Agree that your sync rate is low and that is most likely distance and DSLAM type your on.

I must say that I have had some drops in performance with Telecom broadband in the last few months, especially compared to a year ago.

Mainly experiencing with general browsing, pages won't load the first time, pages hanging on half loaded, http downloads "interrupted" etc.

this is a slap in the face!

These all sound like cache issues - Telecom have certainly had some of these.

Just had a little play, some places I am able to get 1.4 MB/s where I would have usually got 1.7 MB/s

Not quite cache issues - but the web browsing definitely seems like it

this is a slap in the face!
