freitasm: Do you run the browser window maximised?

Yes.
And yes, will look at a subscription soon, but just simply pointing this occurrence out at this stage.

Was this aimed at me?

Currently looks like this:

Not aimed at you specifically ;)

The new thing is the blue bar that sticks to the top of the browser window. It's an alternative to the slide out ad being discussed in this thread.

The yellow bar about the subscription has been there for about three months now so I gather you never noticed it?

Ok, just checking :)

Oh I've seen it, just waiting for the bank to align with it ;)

The search box is still hidden on my screen, hence the screen capture shot above.  Just letting you know about that.

Removed link to Geekzone Live, shortened another one. How is that Search for you now?

Still the same.  I can still use the field, just it's half covered by the frames below.
IE9 by the way.

Interesting - I have removed a lot of text there now, so can't go shorter than that.

No I don't think it's text length related, more the search box appears to be on the line under the rest of the text, so it actually sits under (towards the back) of the section below. If it was on the same line as the text (Your profile | Messages | Wall | Public profile | Friends' status | User list | Reset read flags | New forum posts | Subscription) it would probably be ok. Hope that is sort of clear?! ;)

So that blue line is an advert, clever! I was going to click on it as I thought it was a Geekzone special offer.
My work hides the normal advertising on this website (top, right and first post)

It's a special offer - we have this partnership with TradePub for years (there is even a page here with the latest new white papers, ebooks and magazines, all free).

You can download those for free, we get a commission. Being that these have some actual technical information I thought it would be of interest to the community. I have downloaded a few myself actually.

freitasm: What about the bar on the top?

Quite annoying.

It wouldn't be too bad if it wasn't static, or if it was hidden when the page scrolled into the content... but as-is I find it annoying and a waste of limited vertical screen space.
