Please read The Geekzone Guide.

Discussions are automatically locked after 30 days of inactivity. This rule does not apply to the user who created the discussion or moderators, who will see those discussions as unlocked. If want to contribute in an old discussion and you are not the Original Poster (a.k.a. OP) or a moderator click the Unlock Request button and you will be able to notify a moderator to unlock the discussion. Every time a reply is posted the 30 days countdown resets again.

19 times out of 20, old topics are not the right place to keep discussing.

When topics are left open, newbies (and sometimes oldies!) come along and post a new reply after 3 months, 3 years (I've seen 10 year old threads replied to elsewhere), and say things like "me too" or "I have that brand of monitor, but different model, and my hot water cylinder is leaking, so who can help my mom get her broadband working, because she plugged her dialup cpu into the cat and now the meowing keeps the neighbours awake and I think thats why they are stealing our paper."

Threads do get unlocked on request here, so dont be afraid to message a mod or Bdfl if you have something genuine to add.

(e.g. If a handset super-thread got locked, but then new firmware came out for it, that would be a great reason to unlock).

Hello
Thats ok thanks.
Yes my replys are always genuine. But in this case probably no longer relevant.
I was just going to reply to the person who posted the question about suggestions of IT exams/pathways.
It would have been just a spur of the moment reply anyway, so no worries.

If you feel the reply is relevant you can click the button to request the topic unlocked. Most of the times we unlock on request - unless there's nothing else to add to the topic in which case we ask people to create a new one.
