If want to contribute in an old discussion and you are not the Original Poster (a.k.a. OP) or a moderator click the Unlock Request button and you will be able to notify a moderator to unlock the discussion. Every time a reply is posted the 30 days countdown resets again.

19 times out of 20, old topics are not the right place to keep discussing.

When topics are left open, newbies (and sometimes oldies!) come along and post a new reply after 3 months, 3 years (I've seen 10 year old threads replied to elsewhere), and say things like "me too" or "I have that brand of monitor, but different model, and my hot water cylinder is leaking, so who can help my mom get her broadband working, because she plugged her dialup cpu into the cat and now the meowing keeps the neighbours awake and I think thats why they are stealing our paper."

Threads do get unlocked on request here, so dont be afraid to message a mod or Bdfl if you have something genuine to add.

(e.g. If a handset super-thread got locked, but then new firmware came out for it, that would be a great reason to unlock).

Thats ok thanks.
Yes my replys are always genuine. But in this case probably no longer relevant.
I was just going to reply to the person who posted the question about suggestions of IT exams/pathways.
It would have been just a spur of the moment reply anyway, so no worries.
