The button is going to be a flip flop switch. Initially it will show as [+1] if you have not voted and this will count as a vote up.

After you vote the button changes to [-1] and this means you can click it to withdraw your vote.

The text next to the button will show "No votes yet", or the number of votes received.

I am not implementing a down vote like other sites. You can vote +1 to show satisfaction with the post, approval, support or similar things.

This button will only show if you are logged in.

Obviously "ANSWER" is still used to set a reply/ies as the answer(s) to a topic question.

you know you're going to have to make some badges like

500 +1s
etc :)

and maybe on april 1 give the ability to down vote to see how many people give you a -1 :)

Love it, especially the fact that it doesn't introduce the negative side that a ± button could bring. Now we'll be able to thank those that deserve it and leave the idiots to the mods (instead of instituting a reddit-like mob rule...).

I don't like the word "vote" cos we're not running for election. How about something silly instead and unique to the geekzone community?

"Vote" doesn't necessarily mean it has to run for election. I think it (the word "vote") is a good and simple word? But of course, suggestions should be allowed.

maybe "big ups" or "totes" or even "yip" or "yeah, na" my wife hates how kiwis say use the last one.
