Can PeterReader's post be set to size 7 text so people actually read it?!

Seems with the advent of wide spread VDSL every speedtest whacko is getting their knickers in a twist when they don't get the hallowed 'massive speed increase' they thought was going to happen.

Maybe just a re-write is in order with the first thing it says is just 'If you are posting a Speedtest.net result, go away! But you may come back with some actual information for us'. I am sure there is a thread something that talks about Speedtest rather deeply.
Probably also worth saying something like 'Was VDSL just conencted? Hold on then bucko! DLM will be doing it's thing for the next two weeks'

I can't be the only one driven insane when the daily check for posts is nothing but 'OMG my VDSL is sooo slow' threads. Ooooo maybe instead of PeterReader posting in the thread he could intervene when the "Post New Topic" is clicked. Once the OP reads what he has to say he can continue on to post the new topic.

Very fair comments about VDSL. there are a few people jumping the gun on it. But Peter will only tell you after you post. There needs to be a VDSL before you post FAQ. There was one today about how they got VDSL connected and expected it to bend physics and get a better ping.

The way vdsl is out there, everyone expects atlest to be getting 40s and seem to be ever so disappointed.

Problem I feel with vdsl is too many people that don't understand the technical aspec of how vdsl and dlm work.

More variance in equal lines doesn't help iver, or the face that half the devices our there missreport.

I'm hearing more and more often, people thinking dlm is only the 10 day period. Or expecting manual changes to be pushes out to it.

He he. Funny that Peter didn't pop up to reply to this! Maybe his ears are burning....

Perhaps the answer is to email the op the Peter reader text. That way the op has a prompt in their inbox instead of possibly coming back to the thread to read the peter reader post.

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

I think one of the biggest problems with the marketing of VDSL2 by some ISP's promising unrealistic "x times faster than regular broadband" and people reading posts on sites such as GZ who are on DLM1 getting 60 odd Mbps. The reality is to get VDSL2 you really need to be getting around 13ish Mbps + sync rates on ADSL2+ and in reality may only see real world download increases of 2x to 3x faster.

The biggest benefit of VDSL2 is not download speed, it's upload speed. YouTube aren't necessarily going to buffer any faster, gaming isn't necessarily going to be better (latency can actually be worse) but if you're relying on uploading data it's a game changer.
