Not bad for a morning after the night before!

People often mistake me for an adult because of my age.

Keep calm, and carry on posting.

Cool. Will us end users of the site notice any performance improvements, do you think?

Possibly a small performance increase due to much faster processor and twice as many cores.

It shouldn't be any different from old server as it sits on same rack and switch.

Still installing updates so don't think will migrate first VM until about 12.30pm.

New server completely updated, VMs migrated, tested, backup in progress.

A few more cleanup tasks but the bulk is done and this is back online now!

Thanks for the patience folks.

weird. i did benchmarks before and after, quite rudimentary - just this page with curl.  and it seems to have got slower not quicker, but when i browse the site it seems a little quicker.

and posting is definitely quicker.

We have just restarted - 12 minutes ago. It will take time for the database engine to cache tables, etc. Usually I expect full speed after 12 hours.
