I use live.geekzone.co.nz as a starting point and I seem to get the "we use cookies etc" footer on almost every thread I open. Anyone else having this issue?  I've seen it and clicked "Got it!" about 5-6 times this morning already.

Got the message this morning, opened multiple tabs and got the message on every tab.

Closed all tabs, said ok on one tab and then re-opened all tabs without issue

The behaviour is expected. If you get the message (which shouldn't be for NZ IP addresses, this is fixed), the bar will appear until you click the OK button. Opening multiple tabs will show it every time.

Not sure why a cookie warning message is needed for non-eu countries.

Why not just remove it, given most of your users are mostly from NZ and AU. The warning messages don't really benefit anyone here.

It is a requirement by Google and other networks that if we show ads in these regions we MUST warn on the use of cookies.

What's the penalty? Google won't list you?

Google AdSense will stop serving ads.

As far as I know its a EU law.. not a Google law.

As NZ is not in the EU lately.. I see no need for it.

Yes, it's not a "Google law". But it's part of Google AdSense T&Cs that you have to show it for users based in the EU if you want to still get paid.

So what I have done is to add the disclaimer and instead of maintaining a list of EU countries I just show the script to everyone except for people in NZ.
