It would be interesting to see who pressed the "Set Answer" button for a forum post just like one can see who supports a forum post. I presume it is not always the person who started the forum who selects an answer.

I would also be interested in knowing who has given me +1's. Yes, it's on the post but that doesn't work well for older threads. You have to look up every post you have made.

I'm more interested in seeing where the +1 has come from (which post).

Sometimes I notice that my +1 count has gone up, and wonder for which pearl of wisdom I have been +1'd :)

I've asked Mauricio about the Set Answer before as I often suspected that I accidentally hit the button while scrolling with my thumb on the mobile.

The answer then was "Hmmm. No we don't track individual actions like this one. But if you set an answer the page would refresh showing the reply with the yellow border so you would know it straight away..."

Straight away varies on some of the connections but if I think I could have done it I just unset. If it wasn't me then someone else will set it again :-D

I've also suggested this in the past, and would still like to see it :)

As for set answer - I think it works OK as is - I think anyone who has a certain number of posts(or something?)  can both set and unset the answer - I sometimes unset an answer if it doesn't seem like a real answer. Sure, technically you could get into a set\unset war with someone, but it rarely seems to happen.  (EDIT: Though I foresee this thread turning into a set\unset answer war of epic proportions! :P )

Sorry, reference? We do track the Set Answer and know exactly who set what. The question is (no pun intended) who sees it? OP, author, everyone?

As per the +1, I still want to have this feature so you know who voted and where. Working on 2FA and other security things at the moment though.

That was your answer to a PM sent 25 Jan 2014.

I've found some other sites are leaving so many click bait links in navigation zones that I use a tablet where possible rather than the phone. The set answer button then doesn't fall so readily under my thumb either.

I thought the person who knew the answer usually pressed the button, as then means people won't continue to answer the same question with the same answer. The OP may never press the button themselves. Some topics though will have multiple answers.

I'm the opposite: I view it more like the stack exchange approach (though a little more community spirited on geekzone since "anyone" can set it) - I never set my own posts as the answer - I either leave it to the OP to check and set it if it works for them, or for some other geek to double check it and set it.  I suppose I can see some scenarios where it might make sense for the answerer to set it, just not something I tend to do...

I think that's the nice thing about the current system - it's fairly flexible and allows for different approaches, as long as people are sensible, which I think most netizens on geekzone tend to be :)

Have you considered a -1?  I have often wondered if there shouldn't be a -1 button and if a post gets to a certain -ve number then the post is removed.

Yes, and decided not to. This has been discussed before and one of the reasons is that we want to reward people, not create a tool that others can use to gang up together on someone.

Yeah I was wondering that too... fair point.

Glad I'm not the only one that's done that! I've scrolled through a thread before and accidentally tapped the set answer button ... then launch into a panic of did I actually set that or did someone else? If I unset that is that going to upset someone else if it wasn't me? Are there a bunch of email notifications being sent out for that? Aaahhhhhhrrgg the sky is falling
