freitasm:

You can now use two types of spoilers: [ spoiler ] secret [ /spoiler ] or [ spoiler=teaser ] secret [ /spoiler ] - without the spaces - results below:

secret

teaser

secret

I'd like to see the spoiler tag be a bit more obvious. It's easy to miss if there isn't much text. I initially didn't notice the spoilers in the "Guess that movie." thread and assumed we were meant to post answers. Had there not been multiple films and other replies which didn't post the answers, I probably would have thought the "1:" label was just something random in the signature (like an old school emoji).

Other sites typically had more obvious labels, such as "[spoiler]" in bold or red.

I am using standard HTML tags for this. The "teaser" part of the tag is up to the user.

How can I control what people put in the teaser part of the tag?

I can't. People write what they want. If the OP put 1. in the tag teaser, I can't do anything.

I can add a [Click to reveal spoiler] in addition to the message. Will do later.

I also noticed that if you quote someone their spoiler disappear. This is because the HTML tags aren't in the Allowlist of tags for users. I will add them too.

Because it doesn't warrant it's own thread, is it possible to relax the quote limit for trusted members by 1 please? There are often times it's legitimately useful/needed for context to quote more than a couple of sections of a reply, and right now I work around it by quoting to the limit and then using other methods to highlight things to reply to additional points :)

Trusted users can post up to four quotes now.

Thank you, that is a most excellent quality of life improvement.

[Click to see spoiler(s)] I wonder if nested spoilers work?

No, nested spoilers don't work. You can have different tags within tags but no recursive tags allowed - I'd have to expand the logic a bit, since the script language doesn't offer recursive regex.

@gehenna:

Thanks for jogging my memory. I looked into this, and it doesn't seem too hard to create a simple one. I will try later.

Dark mode entered the chat

If someone gives me a couple of screenshots of what Dark Mode should look like, I might look at it.

I mocked it up. I don't know why I didn't try this sooner. Time to downsize the web team at work.

That's top notch design there, thanks.

Seriously, are those areas supposed to be black/dark grey?
