FREEVIEW FREEVIEW FREEVIEW YAY which roughly translates to had a awesome night won a awesome prize and met some great people. Got home at 6:15 and am still totally shattered and possibly still a little drunk.

For those heading to the other events if it's half as good as Wellingtonyou are gauranteed a great night.

How funny is that, it could have been me in the Silver people mover above.  I drive the exact same model of holden Zifara, and it looks a lot like my car, in fact I do remember seeing the UTE in front, I am 99.9% sure it is me... Hope you guys had a good breakie.

Loved the night, Enjoyed by all, and some of us had a bit too much to drink! Could have been more pizza put-out from the venue though, many of us were paying a visit to the late-night-eateries in Courtenay place.

Big thanks to all the sponsors, hopefully i'll indirectly sway some business your way.

VERY small world, I met some people I didn't even realized I "knew"!

I think the fund that sponsored by FreeviewHD for the pizzas be enough, but somehow I think One Red Dog dropped the ball on this as it seems a bit odd that there isn't enough for everyone... I think ORD might not make the list for future Geekzone Pizza Evening in Wellington perhaps...

About the venue... We used One Red Dog for the last three years but this year they completely stuffed up.

Started with me booking the venue back in December - and when I walked in the Wednesday before the event to confirm numbers they had NO RECORD of the booking at all. Lucky they didn't have something else happening on Saturday. To be fair the manager did offer us a case of Stella Artois for this misunderstanding.

Then DB offered us two kegs of Monteiths and One Red Dog just refused to let DB send them in, saying they didn't have a license. It wasn't BYO beer, it would be DB sending it directly to One Red Dog but they couldn't make a goodwill gesture.

Next the food. Pizza was good as usual, but when you book a place for 60 people and you pay a set price per head you expect enough pizza for 60 people. What it looks like is that One Red Dog made half a dozen small pizzas per table (previous years was large pizzas) and that was it.

Sort of going to an Indian restaurant and having rice being "shared" but when you look at the bowl is not bigger than what an individual meal would be.

Very disappointed with One Red Dog. They certainly didn't recognise us as a crowd that have been there three times before, so not going there next time.

I enjoyed the night but as Mauricio notes, I didn't think there was enough food on the table. I think I had two slices of pizza (very nice to be sure) but even for somebody of my appetite, it wasn't sufficient.

Alas I had to leave early since it was Chinese Year on Sunday and as custom, the main menu to celebrate it is the night before and my wife had prepared a large dinner in honour of the occasion.

I personally wasn't so fussed about the beer since I had limited myself to two drinks given I would be driving home but I can see their attitude about the keg being very difficult to understand. Maybe the answer next year is to go a BYO place so there will be no alcohol issues at all.

Look forward to next year's event.

Thanks Mauricio for clearing up the ORD situation... poor and poo on ORD... Well looks like we'll check out new place for Wellington next year. Let's see if there's any other pizza parlour be keen too make use of this highly recognised event as part of their marketing and perhaps a potential long-term/recurring agreement :-D

(I did thought the pizzas were a lot smaller than before)

That ORD situation aside, it was a great night and looks like the biggest turn-up too.

Thanks to Sony for the Sony Walkman! It actually was the NWZ-A845 model not the NWZ-A840 as listed as a prize. I don't know if you want to update that on the prize list Mauricio? Its also not listed on any NZ Website apart from Sony.co.nz with RRP of $399.95 inc GST.

Agreed with the shortage of pizza's (as you remember i came over and asked you if there was anymore coming out). Got 3 pieces in total.. and i dont need to remind you on how small the pieces were.

Wow ORD have totally lost my business after that revelation. We also visited a late night eatery due to the lack of pizza. Although the tolberone martini's delayed that visit slightly ;P

What pizza we got was tasty but very scarce. Lucky SOB's at the top of the tables got all the good stuff :P

Perhaps next time around we could go to Syn Bar on Bond Street, they have Hell Pizza onsite and we've all been to Hell once or twice.

Otherwise there is another ORD on the Wellington Waterfront.

Plus another "semi" option would be Pizza Pomodoro, who make awesome pizzas, but have an extremely small venue.
