Topic # 85362 17-Jun-2011 18:26
Send private message

I have composed a reply to a forum thread I started. http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=39&topicid=85200
After posting the reply, I am directed to a forum page with the following

"By posting in this forum users agree to our forum usage guidelines (FUG). Moderators and administrators may edit posts that do not respect these policies.

Please report ISP/telco faults using our Geekzone Fault Report page. "

The post has a couple of URLs on it, but iv'r posted urls before.

My reply is not posted. there is no error message. Am I breaking some forum rule?

Regards

Strange.

I tried several times and it wouldn't post the update but by not quoting the previous post It has worked?

By not quoting the previous post It only has one URL. I have posted before with multiple URLs to screendump jpegs on a file host?

Any ideas anyone?

Regards Allen.

There must be an error message. Perhaps the quote and /quote tags are not paired correctly?

I have had the same experience in the past.

Essentially, the problem is the actual error message is in bold text and appears with a grey background  - but below that is a large message in large print which has a large headline and mentions the forum usage guidelines.

The eye is naturally drawn to the large message below and tends to miss the small text above.

I was stumped the first couple of times, and believe it or not, it still gets me every now and again...

Thanks.

didn't see any error message, only the forum usage guideline bit.

Got my message posted in the end.

Regards Allen.

If it happens again take a screenshot, it'll help freitasm diagnose the issue.

Here it is below. I deliberately left a quote off.

I see it now, but it's easy to miss the small message. Should be more prominent.

Other forums I have used just post any erroneous formatting as text. Its pretty obvious when the post is submitted or previewed that there is something amiss.

Spot the error message!

Yes, we can let erroneous tags and have posts that look like crap. Because the number of posts I see around that the user won't bother going back to fix things is not small, I tell you.

Less work for us here.
