Yes, I thought of a badge for competitions but no way I would go retroactively...

A badge for being the first to get a badge? Too meta...

yaya.. I have 700ms to www.geekzone.co.nz now :-)

Can't you get a closer tunnel than singapore?

I am using an AU aarnet IPv6 tunnel (At the moment) and its NZ -> AU -> LA ->HK -> SG -> you :-)

Off topic, but quick explanation: tried SixXS but they WLG tunnel wasn't listed. So got HE. This should go native in a couple of months anyway.

Surely it would be better to not have it at all than have it 700+ms away...

I have had to force v4 for geekzone as it takes forever when using v6.

Whereas I had to force it to IPv6 in order to get the badge. Smile

This is from Safari, which has a 'Happy Eyeballs' like implementation. This prefers the fastest responder, which is evidently NOT the SIXXS tunnel. (Safari is not strictly HE, but it mostly achieves the same results. There is a fair bit of discussion on various mailing lists as to whether the Apple implementation is better or worse).

Looking at the database, 431 people received the Ho Ho Ho 2011 badge. The first was handed out at 00:00:15 and the last one at 23:58:47.

Good effort folks. Who's collecting the New Year's Day 2012 badge?

My wife just found out I got a Ho Ho Ho badge and she is busy making me a No No No badge! :-)

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

It would appear that accessing the site by android phone does not give the badges... ie today I accessed the site by android, then checked my profile on logged out PC... no new years badge... then logged in an got badge.

Thats why I don't have a Christmas badge even though I accessed the site many times (by android) on Christmas day.

You accessed the full site or mobile site on your handset? Badges are only given when accessing the full site.
