I thought all election ads were supposed to be taken down on election day. I see GZ still has the Vote For Change banner ads running.

Does it not apply to online?
Does it not apply to the Referendum, only the Election?

Yea I think it has to be gone even if its for the referendum but TBH the electoral legislation is flawed with the advent of the internet. You could argue the shear fact this thread has been made on election day may sway someone's vote.

Yes this clearly states they can't be shown today: http://www.elections.org.nz/files/Media_Handbook_2011.pdf

Taken literally "Comment functions should be disabled on all websites, including social media sites, until after 7pm on election day to avoid readers posting statements that could influence voters. " http://mono.wlg.election.govt.nz/study/news/media-activity-on-election-day.html

freitasm: Those ads were finished at midnight. If you are seeingvanuthing I would say it could be a cache in your ISP.

Does that make GZ/The ISP/You liable then, if you're seeing them? Law is unclear.

We are not serving those ads. Google DFP tells me the campaign completed, as requested, 25th November at midnight. If you are seeing these ads, then it's either your browser cache, or ISP proxy.

Ahh, I was wondering. Since I posted, I have not seen it, it is actually possible I hadn't fully refreshed the GZ page since yesterday.

How do they stop people on FB? They can't can they, I've seen two posts so far on my wall about who people voted for/think everyone else should vote for...
