I’m looking to get Xnet Fusion but just wondering if I need a telecom network setup

The apartment I’m moving into:
1. Has all internal wiring
2. Is broadband ready with DSL sockets (but has no rectangle phone sockets but others in the builder use converters to connect their phones)
3. Does not exist on the Telecom network (there has never been a telecom phone rental at the address)

Do I need to get a technician to connect the apartment to the telecom network/exchange before Xnet Fusion can be set up?

If it has never been connected to the telecom network/exchange I would say yes you will need to get a tech to connect you

Some apartments may be fibre feed. Check with the landlord / corporate body what the broadband situation is. If it is broadband ready (i.e. their own broadband system), then all you need to do is hook into that for your broadband then get Xnet VFX only for you phone service.

If it is already Telecom wired, there should records of where you apartment is wired. You can try signing up to Fusion as a self install and see how it goes. If there are any issues, then you can request to upgrade to full install ($149) and leave the Chorus tech to sort it out.

As for those RJ45 sockets, if wired correctly, one of these should be all you need:
