I'm amazed more than anything that there isn't a discussion on Geekzone about the Vodafone nationwide fault today.

I heard it on the radio and it's on NZherald and Stuff but nothing here. Usually this is my first port of call when something technological stops working unexpectedly.

Its because there is no one left on Vodafone and no one noticed.

This caused it and resulted in this.

The symptom for me was no access to International websites at about 6.30am. So I opened up a VPN into work and moved on.

this morning 6.30 went to check email. nothing. Goes straight into my vodafone modem saying fault.  Didnt get access until 9am.  No 3g on my phone but 2g looked like it would work, but didnt try.  Have left it on 2g for now.

Not much said about outage is probably because no one could get on line with land line or phone to put anything.  Once connected and working alright its too late to say there is a fault, as there is no longer a fault

This isnt unusual, been experiencing multiple issues with Vodafone lately. Calls go straight to voicemail without ringing when phone is on, text messages all come thru in a batch due to outages etc etc.

Happens more and more frequently

Even Vodafone clearly didn't know what was going on. They made a media statement saying it only affected parts of Auckland and was resolved, when there were numerous parties around the country still reporting issues with service. (I saw Hastings, several in Wellington, Paroa and Christchurch on some news sites)

Vodafone technology knew 100% what was going on and that was getting service restored

You mean the journalists who read a third party tweet and run with an incomplete story?
