I have a Huawei Ideos x3 which up until Friday I was using with my Vodafone sim card with no issues, now it appears to not be registering with the phone.

The problem being above signal bar there is a little 'x' showing and what looks like a sim card picture with an exclamation mark in it. I have tried to manually search for a network (Vodafone 2G & 3G as well as 2Degress show up) but am unable to connect to any. I also have a 'please insert sim card' message when phone times out.

I know my sim card is still okay and working because when I put it in my old Nokia everything's fine. I have trawled google for possible solutions but ended up more confused, can anyone help?

Do other SIM cars work in the handset? Maybe the handset has a issue

Have you/can you try it with a 2degrees SIM?

If the phone has been reported stolen to Vodafone, they may have blacklisted it on their network.

The phone could have been blacklisted by the original owner.

I was just looking for a link to your piece, on why some handsets don't work on other networks, to post here.

Stolen, or cloned imei maybe?

Will Vodafone tell you if it has been blacklisted by them? Thinking proof of purchase etc.

Edit: Punctuation

A chance it could be the simcard I have had issues with older sim cards having issues in modern phones.

Sim inserted properly? Had the same symptoms with an old Nokia recently that had an insecure mounting. A little creative surgery solved the problem.
