r2b2: Just discovered this thread - checked my bill and as of the December bill I too am still paying $5.06 for Saturn Extra. Can't believe that they seem to silently change the rules behind the scenes but don't adjust those who are currently on it (not like they can't easily go "now, who's got Saturn Extra"...)

Time to lodge a ticket via the website I guess.


Yeah me too, that's pretty poor service. Logged a ticket

Otaku: A query...I am on $75/40gb per month plan and my 1-year contract ends next month. I sent a query regarding, how can i switch to $82/60gb per month plan *without* entering another contract. A rep calls up today "offering" the new plan right away (waving off early contract termination charges), provided I enter another 12-month contract. This is beyond my understanding..can't an old subscriber who has completed the contract switch to a higher usage plan which also costs more,without contract?


You don't mention if you have other services in a group contract or whether it is just internet access. But either way once your contract is up you are obviously free to do as you please without penalty. The as you please part then becomes a question of what options you have both with your current provider or with another.

My InHome plan allows me to change plans once per month with no penalty (as posted above). I am under no contract.

I would never be locking myself in to a 12 month contract, so if it were me I would wait now until the current one had expired, then ring them back and say OK I have no contract liability now, what plan can I change to that has no contract and allows me to change plans, and at what frequency.

The key is you don't ask them to tell you what you might move to - you tell them what you want, then work out whether what they reply matches what you know is possible. In my experience the key words are "No contract" and "flexible plan changes". Certainly regarding bandwidth volume where it is capped monthly, flexibility to go up or down is both possible and essential.

I think you will find that when your contract ends, the standard no contract 40gb price will apply as opposed to the $75 discounted price during contract period. I believe you have the option of resigning to get the new prices for that same deal (or the newer, 60gb one even too) but the standard prices would apply in the no contract situations. 

 

Pretty sure this is how it works from my end anyway.

Please see my above posts for background.

Decided to move away from TCL, and opeted for Telecom's $99/150gig plan. There is a period of 8 days between the end of current billing cycle and end of contract. Any idea how would i be billed for those 8 days? Sent the same query to TCL on Sunday. Yet to hear from them.

The bills are pro rata-ed up until disconnection date on your final bill.

No - unless you over use your package you'll pay the percent of the month you used your plan for only.

To clarify...

You'll pay a pro rata rate for the month until your disconnect date, but you can use the entire data cap (up to your data limit) in that time without penalty. The systems that bill and calculate usage are different.
