I seem to get the red x for status most of the day. There's plenty of cellular signal. It makes it very difficult to use the Internet when it won't connect. What is the likely reason that the Internet connection is down?

It depends on your location. Whereabouts are you?

Mahurangi. I think the signal comes from Snells beach. Some moments the internet is streaming well. Then refuses to connect. Very frustrating, fortunately I have alternative reliable access through the opposition provider.

I didn't get a chance to retry the connection while in the area. I presume Vodafone don't solely rely on customer complaints to ensure the network is still running.

There are plenty of issues that can arise on networks that networking monitoring is incapable of detecting.
