The best I can get on telstra is 150Gb for $155.95 but I can get way better deals from other ISP's.

  • Slingshot unlimited + phone line $111 OR Phone line + 250Gb $102
  • Orcon unlimited + a phone done through the internet $99
  • Telecom 500Gb + phone line $199
  • Vodafone 200Gb + phone line $125
Telstra needs to offer more or they will fall behind. I am currently with telstra but am wanting to change due to their high prices and low amounts of data. DO you think now that telstra has been sold we will get some competitive deals?

Don't hold your breath, Telstra was brough by Vodafone a little while back.

I understand that in the near future it will be absorbed in to the Vodafone brand.

Correct. All customers were sent a mailer this week, and most started receiving it on Thursday. The TelstraClear brand ends and the new company IS Vodafone NZ. Not VodaClearHug. Vodafone.

Worth mentioning is you can get 150gb VDSL with Snap for cheaper than that price too, assuming you have VDSL available at your address.

Have been hounding TCL for months to get plans that are similar to other ISP's they never seemed interested in doing so.

Manged to talk them out of 150GB + Phoneline for $105 pm however had to go on a 12month Contract to get that.

IMO, I don't think the price will be lesser, you may get more data thou.

Maybe it is a negelected price market of TC, I dunno.  They seem to be more competitive in the average data caps that might tbe targetted to more households.

Wondering if there's anything for existing customers? I can't see anything applicable for us. I'm going to call and see what the options are.

So the rep has arranged a cable WarpSpeed installation on the new pricing for next week. She did say the first bill may show the old pricing however.

What about the fact that you're an existing customer, did that matter?

I am looking at the bundles and the Phone, Broadband + TV bundle is about $20 less than I'm paying now per month and with double the data so I'd like to swap to that?

EDIT

Just called and the rep said I couldn't switch to new pricing structure until I was 22 months into the 24 month contract, that sucks

Also since we are existing customers are they trying to lock us back into a contract for the new modem? I want better pricing but having been a customer of Paradise since 1998 and TelstraClear since 2001 I think I don't want to be locked back into anything.

I was just told by vodafone:

The pricing is valid for new customers signing up to InHome from 1 April 2013, and terms and conditions do apply. However, we’re always happy to discuss options with existing customers, who can call our team on 0508 662 277.

Hmmm. Not that great now, is it?

I agree. Just to confirm that I could get my same plan for $10 less per month ~$120 per year. But only if I am new customer. Are they joking?

I wonder what telecom is offering at the moment...

If you're in an existing contract I see this as fair and don't see why Vodafone would let you downgrade.

If you're out of contract however there should be no reasons why they don't get somebody move.
