I had a text from VF on Monday 10th saying they were upgrading the network and there may be some interruptions to service.
I'm a km from the tower and I was getting 2 bars at best. Now I'm getting 1 or "No service". iPhone 4S. The service has got worse. What's up !!!!

Answer in your first sentence?

Chorus has spent $1.4 billion on making their xDSL broadband network faster. If your still stuck on ADSL or VDSL, why not spend from $150 on a master filter install to make sure you are getting the most out of your connection?

Hi there, apologies for the service issue you're having at the moment. We've got some pretty exciting stuff happening with our network in Rolleston right now. We're rolling out 3G on 900MHz and we're getting ready for 4G upgrades as well. Unfortunately this means that some equipment needs to be replaced which can cause temporary degraded signal quality and worst case, total interruption to service.

The upgrade is currently scheduled for completion around the 19th of June, but please let us know if you are still experiencing issues after this date so we can follow this up with our tech folks.

Cheers,
Lon

This is great news for clients and RSP's alike John. Certainly in this area 900mhz will be like a magic bullet for RBI clients so looking forward to this upgrade being completed.

Yes 3G on 900Mhz will really improve the 3G coverage footprint and in-building 3G coverage,

We have the upgrades coming for that week posted on the Vodafone NZ site click on ' more ' just under ' Better coverage '

Hi

Good news about the upgrade, I understand that this will help RBI coverage in the area.

As far as the regular cellphone coverage, we struggle with it.. 1-2 bars sometimes that drops away to nothing... its very frustating. We are in between Lincoln, Rolleston , Leeston... not really close to any of them

Take it that the changes to Rolleston will not help us?

Is there any sort of small receiver that we could installl here to enhance the vodafone signal (for regular cellphone use - not the RBI which I understand is quite different)?

- thanks

Hi pjays

These upgrades are for regular mobile coverage, RBI is different again if you wish to enhance mobile coverage then look into Sure Signal but I would hold off for a while

RBI is the VF network. The only difference is a fixed terminal for installs rather than a mobile phone.
