After studying this and previous SPA2102/3102 messages I'm coming to conclusion that it sounds like a great device!  Can someone confirm that it will work in this situation:
SMC Barricade ADSL modem/router/wifi, attach SPA3102 (inplace of PAPT2), attach existing PSTN, output from SPA3102 to the house phones (4 in parallel), incoming calls from either VFX or PSTN will ring (actually only two phones have ringer enabled), no user intervention required for either incoming call line.  Calling out configured for VFX default but extra code (##) to call out on PSTN.
But also - possibly to keep one phone direct on PSTN so that two people can make simultaneous calls?
I'm happy with PAPT2 at present, just thinking aloud here as to future changes.

maverick: Hi James,

I will let Steve the VOIP Guy :) get back to you on this one,
there should be no limitation on the PSTN side so all that is perfectly do able, we dont setup the PSTN side in anyway so you have complete control so most probably it will just be a config issue for the PSTN settings, we do not support these directly as it dosn't really apply to the VFX service and there are going to be so many variables on how different customers want to set this up, However I will ask Steve to drop his comments in case he can shed some light, He is away for a few days (Easter Break) so I'm afraid it may be a few days before you get a reply. He's one of the Hardest workers here and deserves some time off...:)

Will hopefully get back to you in a few days

Thanks Phil.... Previously, with no VFX, i could change the PSTN to VOIP settings and set "PSTN Ring Thru Line 1: YES"
This way any calls on my landline will come through the handset. With the same setup on VFX this is not the result. I can't see any other settings that would affect this. I also have the "Line Enable: YES" set.

Hi James.

The way the SPA3102 is setup I have made #9 the dialing prefix for making a call out of the PSTN so that may explain that part of it.
When you are on the web interface, click on voice then PSTN line and then if you click advanced you get all the options for the PSTN -> VoIP/VoIP->PSTN. From there you can setup the ring PSTN ring through, voip users etc. Let me know if you have any issues and I'll check your config file. If you could port you MAC or VFX number that would help.

(VoIP type Guy)
