Just saw this on their website today...

Makes it a good prospect for anybody looking to test out a VoIP service, and only pay for calls.

I'll drink another coffee to that!

Chorus has spent $1.4 billion on making their xDSL broadband network faster and even more now as they are upgrading their rural Conklins. If your still stuck on ADSL or VDSL, why not spend $195 on a master filter install to make sure you are getting the most out of your connection?

Maybe WorldxChange have some inside knowledge on the launch date for Naked DSL? So perhaps this extension coincides with that? Knowing the slow pace of our big Telco though, I'd guess not, but hey a great rumour to start anyway lol.

mmmm I was going to get vfx when I signed with xnet in Jan this year but then I'd have to buy at minimum a PAP2T and then I just get to play since I have the complusory landline. Furthermore I make all my tolls on Vodafone free minutes so there is no advantage to me [yet]

As you said bring on naked dsl and well that is a whole different scenario ! - I look, forward to playing with QoS on my router ;-)

But then again the yet to be seen Vodafone homephone+broadband will also be worth considering, I wonder why they haven't launched it yet, one would think they would want to get as much market share as possible before naked dsl and the uptake of VoIP

That said I'd have to be convinced of Vodafone's customer service to be at least as good as wxc/xnet :)

I'm glad you put a smiley there because I figured you had to be joking...

A quick trawl through the various threads here will convince anyone of the relative Customer Service merits of both WxC and Vodafone.  I rest my case...

This is a very nice gesture on WxC's part -- thanks to Phil and the shareholders at WxC who put their collective hands in their pockets to fund this Laughing.  It's quite a lot of revenue they have foregone and as a user of 3 different VFX connections, I really appreciate it.

Maybe the new deadline of July does give some indication of the likely timeframe for Naked DSL.  I remember seeing somewhere that Naked DSL is the fastest possible product for Telecom "to build", so just possibly we are now looking somewhere in the vicinity of July for that to happen.

Here's hoping...

WxC has great customer service! Fast, friendly, courteous.

I emailed service [at] wxc [dotcodotnz] today with a request to make a technical change to my account (change MAC addresses, to use a different ATA).

I got a personal telephone call back inside of about 90 minutes, confirming that it was all done.

Most other companies would take that long to answer the phone in the first place, and days (sometimes weeks, months, if ever) to answer email.

Gentlemen

Yes I meant that I am very pleased with WXC customer service

In regards to the vfx extension being an indicator naked dsl - well despite telecom wholesale saying it is the quickist product to build it may not be the quickist product to get agreement on wholesale pricing !

I think naked dsl is longer away than you dare hope...

That said anyone know why vodafone haven't launched their homeplan+broadband yet ?, I can't wait to see their ad campaign when it arrives LOL

Yes, my big laughter was at the thought of one of the major telcos providing a similar customer experience to what WxC do.

Non-official (i.e. rumour) sources I have read here there and everywhere seem to indicate very late '07 for DSL in the nude.

My uninformed baseless worthless opinion is that it would probably take all of 5 mins to make any particular DSL line naked right now, but probably a couple of months to design, develop, test, and deploy changes to billing and provisioning systems.

Add to that the beauracracy factor (industry wide including regulatory body & other players), and we should have it by February 3008.
