Thanks for all your advice Gary, but it's that kind of condescending attitude that give companies a bad name - Vodafone is not Apple and Apple only just get away with a take it or leave it attitude because they (generally) make good equipment.

The OP raised a valid question, he's not the only one waiting for some kind of answer - I suspect that there are many, many more who are not part of GZ who also have the same question.  It's not wrong to expect more from your vendor/supplier - that's business.  Comments along the lines of start up your own ISP and see how you go serve nothing and nobody.

I wish you well, but I wish your comments were more helpful.

Regards

In the TelstraClear days the cable plans always seemed to be the poor cousin value wise - offers always seemed to come out for adsl customers first, and then the cable plans would be updated somewhat belatedly. As an observer (no longer a customer) it seems that this has yet to change under Vodafone ownership.

That may be true, but I was very pleased that almost immediately after acquiring TelstraClear, Vodafone tripled the data cap on my 'naked cable' plan. TelstraClear had raised it only once in the previous 9 years I'd had it. I think it is pretty good value now (and not one cent goes to Chorus!).

I used Cable for about a year in Chch and while it was reliable, TCL always promoted it as being superior to ADSL, but I never felt it was, we dumped cable and went with ADSL at the same address, never really noticed much difference. other than a speed increase on ADSL and large cap.

If the caps were decent and the price was comparable I'd happily use it again.

Hammerer: Also, you should remember that there was an expectation that Vodafone would improve communications with the customers brought with TCL. As one of those customers I think that communication about cable products has got worse. So it creates a bad impression of Vodafone as a whole.

Agree completely. Considering they did not provide the lower priced/more data plans to existing customers without locking them in even more, I thought that was incredibly rude. TCL when revising their cable plans would automatically upgrade the existing customers for no additional fees or contract changes.

I have always thought of TelstraClear as the company that only ever half implemented anything  (I might point out here that the services I received were generally excellent and reliable over all the years).  But VF I have always seen as a company that seems to be innovative within reason (but slightly higher priced that the market desires).   So I think from a TelstraClear users perspective I think there is a desire to see more innovation and early announcements of up coming plans and a little bit of freedom to move around product and service wise without being locked into long term plans.
