Today I decided to finally tune the bedroom TV into the FTA signal passed through the RF output on the digital box, and about halfway through the VHF3 band I came across an unencrypted channel that later turned out to be TV1 Australia. I initially had fun trying to figure out what was playing as it wasn't listed in the EPG and no other channel (I have the lot) was showing the same movie. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this? It didn't seem to be available several weeks ago when I tuned in one of our other TVs.

It's been on and off. It's not an official TCL channel just something they're obviously grabbing off a satellite and feeding out. Maybe somebody at TCL likes the shows! :-)

Someone must do, the broadcasting rights alone would cause a few headaches I'd think. Laughing

Makes you think though; The channel is only available on Aussie Satellite TV. Do TCL have a Foxtel set-up hidden away somewhere...[on this side of the Tasman nonetheless..]

Remember we both share the same satellites.

You can't. It's simply being fed as a FTA channel.

I know that, I'm talking about the decoder side of it. I was going to question how TCL got a hold of Austar/Foxtel Irdeto equipment, but it seems as if they've moved to NDS Videocrypt. Foxtel is also half owned by Telstra, but I think that's probably more of a coincidence.

Er... No, we don't.  Sky TV is on Optus D1, and Foxtel/Austar is on C1.

I know sky have atleast have one Austar decoder for The History Channel (and no doubt there are more). - Anyone else seen the Austar rainfade message on History?

I found the channel as well - it's at 294MHz.

There isn't a channel assigned to it, you have to tune it in manually.

To clarify.. Both my TV and my HTPC tuner card have the option for inputting a channel identifier for the station rather than a frequency (or requires both). I do not want to have to rescan the entire range just for one station when I can input it manually. So, if anyone has it tuned in and can provide the cable channel identifier it would be great. PM is fine.

Sorry, I misunderstood what you asked - it will be either channel 35 or 36 as it's 294 MHz.

If I still got it wrong, let me know.

Hi,

If anyone has a few minutes to spare, would they be able to give me a step-by-step guide to tuning this in? I'm very much a novice with technical equipment and how it works etc, so any help would be appreciated :)
