johnr: Nothing wrong with 170ms ping

I might refer you to another famous person - Colonel Custer.  "There is nothing wrong with our plan"  and "don't worry, they are only Indians"  (not actual quotes but there is a point).

And - I can see you are not a gamer.   170ping - you have to say it with enthusiasm and loudly - like  "ITS CANNONS DUDE!!!"..   Or   "170 PING!!!!! WTF"..

Its not a good thing - it means the other gamers have a competitive advantage.  Nothing worse than being lag killed in a scrim.

Good luck changing the laws of physics

Well, the speed of light down a fibre cable would make the trip in about 0.5 seconds, so any additional overhead is the processing time through each network segment.  There are no 'laws of physics' involved as such.  More specifically, I would suggest 'laws of not very good network configuration' are probably having the larger impact.

Given things a non-symmetric network connection and a restriction to only a 10Mbs upload (even if the download is 130mbs), again - it appears to be network configuration.

To be fair, it's probably "laws of lowest-dollar-cost network configuration".

As a long term SEA player prior to all the SeaMeWe 3 issues was getting around 120-140 afterwards it appears WG ISP in Singapore had a return path routing issue where it returned via HK instead of the cable. Seems to have been corrected now but I personally still use a VPN to connect and get a stable 140-150 these days.

Issue seems to have manifested itself more now server pop has gone north of 20k.

Biggest problem in regards to playing on NA West is CW and tourneys are all played on the East coast server and at times not convenient for us.
